Greetings!!

I hope everyone is ready for Fall. I certainly am. Living in South Florida, Fall has a different meaning than in most parts of the country. We’re not looking for those real cool evenings and crisp days and lovely fall colors. We’re looking forward to the humidity dropping!! It’s why we live here. Typically around mid-October the humidity drops dramatically and our temperatures in the low 80’s feel fantastic. I can’t wait for to enjoy some long evenings outside.

With the Fall also comes re-evaluation for me. I’ve had some staff changes recently and it’s made me look closely at how we are doing all our various business processes. It’s been hard but it’s been a great exercise that I wish I had done sooner. I’ve been very fortunate over the years with most employees staying with me for years (7-10 years in fact).

However, with that longevity I now realize also came some complacency. I wasn’t looking hard at how our various tasks were getting accomplished and how we may want to improve upon them on a regular basis. The old adage was holding too true – If it’s not broken don’t fix it. Well, they weren’t broken but they were definitely no longer as efficient or technologically up to date as they should have been.

So, I am now looking at not only those positions that are changing but every aspect of my business. I’m learning new ways for us to potentially work with clients and our vendor partners. I am asking more questions of my team – the really big one – Why are you doing it that way?

It’s also a great time to take a look at your branding elements. Are you staying true to your brand in all aspects of your marketing? Is your message clear? Are you projecting quality in all your communications? It’s going to be the start of an annual evaluation process for me.

So my recommendation to all this Fall is to take some time to look at how your various processes are configured and re-evaluate your marketing programs. Get your team involved and brainstorm about how to improve upon them.  I know the new year is a good time to re-evaluate, but why wait?
