Greetings!

It’s coming to the end of summer. And the talk of back to school has already started. Truly hard to believe it’s August already.

This summer we have been noticing a trend with many of our clients. They want something unique to showcase their brand. So for us, custom product development has spiked tremendously this summer.

When I first started Gossett Marketing more than 20 years ago I only did custom designed and manufactured promotional products. It had its advantages but also disadvantages for me. Production timing was long was the primary issue for most clients. They couldn’t think 4 months ahead to have that extra special brand-oriented item.

So, we adjusted and began to also offer our clients items that could be customized but were not custom. Now of course, there will always be the need for pens and notepads. There will also be the need for the quick turn items. We still have clients call on a Tuesday for an event on Friday!

And with the new government mandated tariffs on imported goods from China I really thought the more custom item option was going to drop even further. I was wrong. It’s stronger than ever. And surprisingly pricing for many items are still much better than a product produced elsewhere.

And I have been able to produce some custom items and have them delivered in 20 days or less!

And the variety of custom products is vast. We are in production right now with custom Iphone cases. The back of the case was designed to look like a very specific marble (for a marble company) and it includes a leatherette pocket to increase its functionality.

We have a very exciting new item also in production that is a wireless speaker power bank with custom packaging.

And sometimes it might not be totally custom, but by producing at the manufacturing source (instead of just a domestic decorator), we’ve been able to provide our clients with an all over imprinting and custom packaging solution to help them stand out.

The best part is the quantities necessary to produce overseas are no longer huge. Yes, we are doing 10,000 Iphone cases but the new wireless speaker power bank we are producing is only for 1000 quantity.

So sometimes it might make sense to take a few extra days and develop a more custom impression for your brand. Why not stand out more with your clients and prospects. Make a bigger statement.

For one client we are already in discussions for their January big show because they want to stand out and make a statement with something truly unique. I can’t share what it is for obvious reasons, but it’s going to be truly unique.

Whether you’re in business or not, we all prefer to have a referral be it for a great restaurant, a good doctor, spa, school or vacation spot. Businesses in particular thrive on referrals. I can look at my client list and remember how each one came to do business with my agency, especially those that came as referrals.
